![]() ![]() ![]() I can imagine it wouldn’t be any better later when there’s a lot more commotion on screen. It seemed to be worst in areas with a lot of translucent walls. Today I tried playing on my iPhone 11 Pro Max with default settings also using a controller and there were times of considerable frame rate drops. This game runs rather fine on my old iPad Pro. my save has been erased yet again….Įdit: updated to remove one star for a 4/5. ***aaaaaand I just booted it up and would ya look at that…. They really seemed to find that perfect balance here… and I’m sure that loads of people are going to have (or already have been having) a great time with it. I’d probably even recommend it above Undead Horde just because of how streamlined yet still deep enough to be interesting it is. □□ I’d still recommend it, especially if you haven’t picked up UH yet. And I’d be having a blast if I wasn’t already so familiar with Undead Horde. After watching the trailer I wasn’t too sure, and I probably should have done what I do with Switch games and read a few reviews as well, but it’s 10tons…. I’m sure that me putting a TON of time into Undead Horde is influencing this, as I was really hoping for something that set itself apart from that a bit more. ![]() But even without this save issue I’m having, I’d rate the game as 3 stars. Guess I’ll see if I loose it again tomorrow when I have another chunk of time to put into the game. ![]() It’s there, but I’ve had games not want to save again right after jumping into a previous save file…. I’m kind of scared to boot it back up and actually select my game from the save slots…. Thankfully (I think?) there’s a ‘save + exit’ option in the pause menu, so you can (hopefully) come back to your game if you need a break or just can’t finish the section before having to quit. The quests take a decent amount of time to complete, as you’ll be making your way through 4-5 (or more?) different ‘levels’ before reaching each quest’s main boss guy that you need to kill. I don’t know as I’ve only played the game 3 times and have lost my save two of those times, so I’ve just finished dumping another 30 minutes into the game (after loosing about 90 minutes or so for the last two times combined), starting from scratch again and haven’t been able to save up enough for the dungeon keeper (?) guy to offer me whatever he’s going to offer for them. There are also bloodstones that you can use for…. Lastly, there’s a quest map, letting you choose between easy, medium and hard areas scattered across the map. Your base consists of a vendor to spend your gold for equips, another to spend it for general upgrades, a mirror that houses stats and a couple compendiums for found abilities and monsters you’ve engaged. Your skull that you can throw at enemies and funnel abilities into (otherwise picking them for your whole body or weapons). Granted, the competition in this space is pretty tough to match, but in the end this just comes to the table as a serviceable roguelike dungeon crawler, not necessarily a great one. It’s a lot like Undead Horde except more streamlined and your ‘horde’ is more…. The real issue here tends to be longevity and that’s tied to a comparative lack of real variety as you grind away. While there aren’t a tremendous number and variety of weapons and items to work with you can usually get equipped with gear that suits you on an average run, but depending on the whims of the RNG gods you’ll definitely get some runs where it just never comes together. While not visually terribly diverse or exciting, what it does offer up is an approachability you don’t normally find in roguelikes, skewing a little more towards letting you feel powerful before cranking up the difficulty and smacking you down. As a die hard roguelike fan I’m always eager to check out something new in the space, and Skeletal Avenger has some merits that help it at As a die hard roguelike fan I’m always eager to check out something new in the space, and Skeletal Avenger has some merits that help it at least get off to a reasonably good start. ![]() ![]() ![]() Marius's names were not widely adopted until centuries later (mid-20th century). I think, therefore, that I shall not have done amiss if the First is called by me Io, the Second Europa, the Third, on account of its majesty of light, Ganymede, the Fourth Callisto. Then there was Ganymede, the handsome son of King Tros, whom Jupiter, having taken the form of an eagle, transported to heaven on his back, as poets fabulously tell. Io, daughter of the River Inachus, Callisto of Lycaon, Europa of Agenor. Three maidens are especially mentioned as having been clandestinely courted by Jupiter with success. ![]() Jupiter is much blamed by the poets on account of his irregular loves. He named the innermost large moon of Jupiter after the Greek Io: ![]() Based on a suggestion from Johannes Kepler in October 1613, he also devised a naming scheme whereby each moon was named for a lover of the Greek god Zeus or his Roman equivalent, Jupiter. In his 1614 publication Mundus Iovialis anno M.DC.IX Detectus Ope Perspicilli Belgici, he proposed several alternative names for the innermost of the large moons of Jupiter, including "The Mercury of Jupiter" and "The First of the Jovian Planets". Size comparison between Io (lower left), the Moon (upper left) and EarthĪlthough Simon Marius is not credited with the sole discovery of the Galilean satellites, his names for the moons were adopted. įurther observations have been made by Cassini–Huygens in 2000, New Horizons in 2007, and Juno since 2017, as well as from Earth-based telescopes and the Hubble Space Telescope. Io receives about 3,600 rem (36 Sv) of ionizing radiation per day. These spacecraft also revealed the relationship between Io and Jupiter's magnetosphere and the existence of a belt of high-energy radiation centered on Io's orbit. The Galileo spacecraft performed several close flybys in the 1990s and early 2000s, obtaining data about Io's interior structure and surface composition. In 1979, the two Voyager spacecraft revealed Io to be a geologically active world, with numerous volcanic features, large mountains, and a young surface with no obvious impact craters. Viewed from Earth, Io remained just a point of light until the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when it became possible to resolve its large-scale surface features, such as the dark red polar and bright equatorial regions. Io played a significant role in the development of astronomy in the 17th and 18th centuries discovered in January 1610 by Galileo Galilei, along with the other Galilean satellites, this discovery furthered the adoption of the Copernican model of the Solar System, the development of Kepler's laws of motion, and the first measurement of the speed of light. Io's volcanic ejecta also produce a large plasma torus around Jupiter. The materials produced by this volcanism make up Io's thin, patchy atmosphere and Jupiter's extensive magnetosphere. Numerous extensive lava flows, several more than 500 km (300 mi) in length, also mark the surface. Its volcanic plumes and lava flows produce large surface changes and paint the surface in various subtle shades of yellow, red, white, black, and green, largely due to allotropes and compounds of sulfur. Io's volcanism is responsible for many of its unique features. Most of Io's surface is composed of extensive plains with a frosty coating of sulfur and sulfur dioxide. Unlike most moons in the outer Solar System, which are mostly composed of water ice, Io is primarily composed of silicate rock surrounding a molten iron or iron sulfide core. Some of these peaks are taller than Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth's surface. Io's surface is also dotted with more than 100 mountains that have been uplifted by extensive compression at the base of Io's silicate crust. Several volcanoes produce plumes of sulfur and sulfur dioxide that climb as high as 500 km (300 mi) above the surface. This extreme geologic activity is the result of tidal heating from friction generated within Io's interior as it is pulled between Jupiter and the other Galilean moons- Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. With over 400 active volcanoes, Io is the most geologically active object in the Solar System. It was discovered in 1610 by Galileo Galilei and was named after the mythological character Io, a priestess of Hera who became one of Zeus's lovers. Slightly larger than Earth’s moon, Io is the fourth-largest moon in the Solar System, has the highest density of any moon, the strongest surface gravity of any moon, and the lowest amount of water (by atomic ratio) of any known astronomical object in the Solar System. oʊ/), or Jupiter I, is the innermost and third-largest of the four Galilean moons of the planet Jupiter. ![]() ![]() Crude Protein TBD%, Crude Fat TBD% Crude Fiber (max) TBD% Moisture (max) TBD% Linolenic Acid (an Omega-6 Fatty Acid) 75 mg Alpha Linolenic Acid (an Omega-3 Fatty Acid) 167 mg *Oleic Acid (Omega-9 Fatty Acid) 47 mg *Collagen (Marine Source) 100 mg *Not recognized as an essential nutrient by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles. The graphics are high detailed and very good and the animation is superb. So, comparing to other sim games, like SimTower or Sim City, this game is just a walk in the park, a toy for kids. I think this game is more for smaller kids to imagine they are buying animals they would like to have it they really had a safari. You also start with a ridiculously high amount of money, so losing is practically not possible. There is nothing to do but to see a property or building that is offered to you, buy it and place it in a spot you arranged for it. The game is primarily fitted for children, since it has extremely easy gameplay. Much like in the game Sim Farm your job here is to build a safari camp and populate it with animals of your choice. While it should be applauded for its educational intent, it's just a shame it couldn't have been a bit more fun to play. Ultimately, SimSafari is little more than an amusing but short-lived diversion and quickly becomes tedious due to its lack of depth. The 2D graphics are simple and clean, but nothing spectacular, while the interface is straightforward and easy to pick up, aimed at younger audiences as the game is. The difficulty is also set very low so creating the ultimate park is extremely easy, reducing the game's longevity and appeal even further. Beyond placing animals and buildings, there is little else to the gameplay, with none of the complexity or options associated with similar games. While SimSafari could have been an interesting addition to the series, for most gamers this will be a fairly dull experience. A variety of buildings and animals are available for budding environmentalists, but watch out for natural disasters that can wipe everything out in a heartbeat. This one is pretty much identical to SimPark, with the exception that it is set in Africa rather than the US, and requires players to construct and successfully manage a safari park. ![]() For a real strategy game about running zoos, check out recent titles like Seaworld Tycoon instead.Another in the long line of Sim games from Maxis, SimSafari makes for an ideal introduction to the city building series for younger gamers, given its relative simplicity and educational overtones. Recommended only for very young gamers in the house. And young kids in your house will probably like building their own safari and seeing the animals run around and interact with the environment (as well as spectators). On the upside, the graphics are very nice - you can even tell apart the different plant species, and notice little realistic details such as sunshine reflecting off car's roofs. In the rare case that you are not sure what to do next, you need to just click on the "advice" button to let the game tell you exactly what to do. ![]() Since you start the game with far too much money than you'll ever need and everything is very cheap, there is never a danger of running out of money, which is the only way to 'lose' in this game. That's all there is to the game, and similar to SimTown this is more of a "toy" than a real game. ![]() You basically just click on what you want to buy (buildings, animals, plants, cars, and so on) from pop-up menus, then click the location you want to place it. Her work is still collected today by many and highly sought after. Then in 1892 Maria Longworth, granddaughter of Nicholas Longworth, opened Rookwood Pottery. Around that time the hill became occupied by a working-class blue-collar population. ![]() The Highland House, the incline hilltop resort, was a popular entertainment venue. The Mount Adams Incline was completed in 1872 and linked downtown Cincinnati with the hilltop community. One was installed at Fort View Place and the other near the present location of the Playhouse in the Park. ĭuring the American Civil War two artillery emplacements were installed on the hill to help defend the city from the Confederacy. The first Protestant church of any denomination to be founded in that neighborhood was Pilgrim Presbyterian Church on Ida Street, near the Ida Street Viaduct. The monastery is now the corporate headquarters of Towne Properties – a property management company.Īlthough Cincinnati was largely Presbyterian in its early history, Mount Adams was originally a strongly Catholic working-class community composed of the Germans and Irish. The old observatory later became the Holy Cross Monastery and Church and expanded, but closed in 1977. The observatory is still in operation today, though in 1871 it was moved to its current location in Mount Lookout due to excessive smoke from downtown buildings. The hill was renamed Mount Adams in honor of President John Quincy Adams, who delivered the observatory's dedication address. When the Cincinnati Observatory opened in 1843 it owned the most powerful telescope of its kind. Īllegedly to increase his property value Longworth donated a portion of the hilltop to the Cincinnati Astronomical Society for an observatory. The American Civil War created a shortage of manpower needed for vineyard labor, and the death of Longworth in 1863 furthered the end of Cincinnati's wine industry. The wine inspired Henry Wadsworth Longfellow to write the poem "Ode to the Catawba Wine." Contemporaries reported that Longworth's wine "transcends the Champagne of France." The winemaking industry around Cincinnati grew rapidly for several decades until it was virtually destroyed by downy mildew, powdery mildew, and black rot around 1860. Longworth would become the first commercially successful winemaker in the United States, and has been called the "Father of the American Wine Industry." During the 1830s and 1840s Longworth cultivated Catawba grapes, which were used in making his champagne known as Golden Wedding. In 1831, Nicholas Longworth, a wealthy attorney, purchased the mansion that is now the Taft Museum of Art and the large lot of land behind including barren Mount Adams. In the early 1800s the steep Mount Adams hillside was largely barren as early settlers had cut down all the trees for timber to construct their homes. A Black Lady Sketch Show shifts the focus back to where it should always have been. Black male comedians have, for years, relied on caricatures of black women to boost their careers while cheerfully maintaining that we are nothing but shrill harpies or silent caretakers of the community. Our slang, our fashion, even our bodies have been rendered marketable-except when black women are the ones who stand to benefit. (One of Thede’s characters offhandedly mentions being dumped in the comments of a Venmo transaction.) Though black women rarely take center stage, so much of internet culture and pop culture writ large is built on their voices. The show switches between them with a frenetic pace that conveys casual fluency in the language of the internet. Black’s portrayal of a spy whose secret weapon is her forgettable face was one of my favorites, along with Brunson and Dennis’ ill-fated attempt to patronize a new black-owned restaurant in their neighborhood. It’s a conversation that could have played out in the hair salon or on Black Twitter, with reaction shots that are almost lab-engineered to wind up in the arsenal of black lady GIFs.Īs with all sketch shows, some of the sketches work better than others. But their magnanimity has its limits: When Dennis confesses that she doesn’t wear lotion, she’s quickly abandoned. Black admits that she doesn’t cover her hair at night-a tenet of black ladyhood-and the confession is initially met with shock, derision, and hilariously accurate statements like “Unnecessary pain is an important part of being a black woman” and that sleeping on a satin pillowcase is like “sleeping on a roller coaster.” Eventually, the other three admit that there are tenets of black culture that they, too, don’t subscribe to: Brunson doesn’t eat chicken Thede doesn’t like The Five Heartbeats. In the longest-running gag of the first season, the core four black ladies (Quinta Brunson, Gabrielle Dennis, Ashley Nicole Black, and Thede) are all hanging out in Thede’s apartment, hours after a mysterious apocalyptic event that viewers quickly find out has left them the last remaining people on Earth. ![]() ![]() ![]() "This is a good location for more affordable multi-family development.
